Gen2 GR Yaris Skid Plate

Overview

The Neomatic Gen2 GR Yaris Skid Plate has been developed for drivers looking to add substantial underbody protection without fitting the complete Sump Guard Kit.

The Skid Plate provides the same protection for the engine, gearbox and front suspension as our full Sump Guard Kit. The primary difference is the omission of the composite front bumper protector and its associated support brackets.

All mounting points required for the front bumper protector are retained, allowing the skid plate to be upgraded to a complete Sump Guard Kit at a later date.

Construction

The Skid Plate is CNC cut and CNC bent from aluminium plate before being laser welded with into an assembly with additional longitudinal support structures to create a rigid and durable assembly.

The mounting bar is manufactured from high strength 40 x 2.5 mm steel tubing and connects directly to the factory front subframe mounting point. This combined assembly distributes impact loads into the chassis while also increasing chassis rigidity.

The mounting bar is TIG welded using dedicated fixtures to ensure repeatable fitment and powder coated for long term durability and corrosion resistance.

A Gen2 specific stainless steel TIG welded gearbox cooler relocation bracket is included with every kit. This bracket replaces the original Toyota gearbox cooler mount and repositions the cooler to provide the necessary clearance for the Skid Plate mounting bar. 

As with our Sump Guard Kit we include glued in place protective foam padding on the skid plate for the engine oil sump and gearbox. This makes sure the that even under the strongest impact the skid plate can not contact the cars vital components directly.

The Lightweight version is intended for fast road driving, winter conditions, ice tracks and recreational gravel use where additional protection is required without the need for a full competition specification setup.

Pro - 23 kg

• Reinforced TIG welded mounting bar with internal vertical ribs
• Stainless steel TIG welded gearbox oil cooler relocation bracket
• Glued in place oil sump and gearbox protection foam
• Approximate weight: 23 kg

The Pro version is designed for demanding motorsport and rally use and applications where repeated high energy impacts are expected.

This specification is used on rally cars competing in national championships globally and has also been used on course opening ("0") cars at FIA World Rally Championship events.
