Gen2 GR Yaris Sump Guard Kit

Overview

The Neomatic Gen2 GR Yaris Sump Guard Kit has been developed specifically for the 2024+ Toyota GR Yaris platform. While the overall design philosophy remains consistent with our original GR Yaris sump guard kit, the changes introduced on the Gen2 vehicle required a redesign of the mounting structure and front underguard shape.

The kit is designed to provide protection for the engine, transmission and front underbody components while integrating with the factory chassis structure. By connecting the front subframe mounting locations through a dedicated mounting bar and skid plate assembly, the kit also contributes additional chassis rigidity.

Construction

The sump guard mounting structure is manufactured from high-strength 40 x 2.5 mm steel tubing. All mounting assemblies are TIG welded and powder coated for a durable and corrosion resistant finish.

A Gen2 specific stainless steel gearbox cooler mounting bracket is included with every kit. This replaces the original Toyota bracket and repositions the gearbox cooler, providing the necessary clearance for the sump guard mounting bar while retaining the factory cooler. Installing this bracket is a simple 3 bolt job. 

As an additional motorsport input we include glued in place protective foam padding on the skid plate for the engine oil sump and gearbox. This makes sure the that even under the strongest impact the skid plate can not contact the cars vital components directly.

Sump Guard Options

Lightweight - 25kg

The Lightweight version uses a 4 mm EN5754 aluminium sump guard.

This version has been developed for fast road use, winter driving, ice tracks, gravel roads and general recreational driving where underbody protection is required without the additional weight and cost of a competition focused setup.

The Lightweight kit is widely used by hobby drivers on ice tracks and gravel trails.

Pro - 32kg

The Pro version uses a 6 mm EN6082 aluminium skid plate combined with a mounting bar reinforced with internal vertical braces intended for demanding motorsport applications. 

This specification is designed for rally and competition use where repeated high energy impacts and harsh conditions are expected.

The Pro kit is currently used on rally cars competing in multiple national championships globally and has also been used on course opening ("0") cars at FIA World Rally Championship events.

Development

The kit was developed around the revised Gen2 front end architecture using 3D scanning, CAD modelling and vehicle testing to ensure correct integration with the updated chassis and cooling package.

Particular attention was given to load distribution through the mounting structure, gearbox cooler packaging and ease of serviceability while maximising protection coverage. As a result the sump guard is easily removable as one piece for complete access.
